Did Filezilla work just fine until you updated to the latest version in 2015? Are you getting connection problem errors like “Connection timed out” or “Failed to retrieve directory listing”. This is how to fix connection problems after updating filezilla:

Try one or more of these soultions to fix the filezilla connection problems:

  1. Select ‘Only Use Plain FTP’ from the encryption dropdown. In the updated version of Filezilla “Use explicit FTP over TLS if available” is default for all connections. This is the reason of the connection problem.

  2. If nothing else works, go back and downgrade to the previous version of Filezilla

    If you are downgrading to version 3.9.0.6. Make sure to select “Add/Remove/Reinstalled components” in the installation dialog box.
