In Illustrator CS6 you can easily write text on a shape or any other path, but how do you change orientation or direction on the text? This is how to change illustrator text path orientation or direction:
How to write text on a path in illustrator CS6
- Open Illustrator, and use the pen tool or any other shape tool to draw a path or shape.
- Select the text-tool and hold in Alt to click and select the “Type on a path tool” or hold in Alt while clicking on the path line to choose “Type on a path tool”. The “Type on path tool” is automatically selected when writing on a path drawn by pen, simply click on the line to write on it.
- Write the text on the path. The text should follow the shape of the line.

To change text direction on a drawn path
Use the direction bar to move the text from above to below the path and change direction. Simply pull the bar down. You can also move the text back and forth on the path by moving the start or end bars.
To change text from outside a circle to inside the circle
Use the small bar to move the text from outside to inside the circle. Pull the bar inside the circle.
To write text inside any shape
Simply draw a shape, then select the text tool and click on your shape. The text will automatically be positioned inside the shape.
