WordPress: How to overwrite & regenerate thumbnails when image dimentions are changed.

In WordPress there are image settings on how your uploaded images will be cropped to different sizes on upload, for examples the thumbnail size. You can alter these settings under Settings > media. Some plugins like WooCommerse also have settings to crop images. When crop sizes are changed, your old images will still have the previous crop settings. To update, overwrite & regenerate all uploaded images to have the same crop sizes, follow these steps:

  1. Download plugin Regenerate Thumbnails, plugin found here:  https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails
  2. Activate plugin
  3. Go to Tools > Regen thumbnails and click “Regenerate all thumbnails”

  4. Wait for the plugin to do its job!
